Spirit Animal Bee
Gifts: Communication. Pollination of ideas. Community. Enjoying and adding to the sweetness of life.
Challenges: Losing yourself in the group. Lack of focus and losing your way. Susceptibility to environmental toxins (physical and energetic).
Bee is a master pollinator. Nearly one-third of the human food supply is dependent upon bee pollination. That is incredible creative power that you can use to spark or fan the flames of your own creativity. Whether it’s generating new ideas or spreading other ideas, Bee can support you in pollinating the hearts and minds of other people. The lesson here is that you don’t necessarily have to be responsible for coming up with all the ideas. You can stimulate the seed of an idea in others. Physical bees spread pollen which leads to the fertilization of seeds. Your version of pollination can be as simple as inspiring others.
If Bee is your spirit animal, it will be empowering for you to accept this responsibility for pollination. Don’t force it, of course. Don’t do all the talking, showing, and telling. Own the gift of pollination, and set the intention that sometimes what you say or dowill fertilize an idea in someone else. It’s too much pressure on yourself and on them to intend constant pollination.
Much of the source of Bee’s power comes from its community. Physical individual bees each play a specialized role in their hives. The message here is not that you are predestined to do or be something without choice or free will. (Spirit animals never remove your choice. They empower you to make better-for-you choices.) The message is that you have a higher purpose, one that your soul wants to fulfill. There are countless—probably infinite—ways you can fulfill your purpose. The lesson here is to accept your purpose, your higher calling, and hone your unique gifts in service of fulfilling that purpose.
Bee’s gift of making honey is an exhortation to you to seek out the sweetness in life. This can mean doing what makes you happy and being around people who make you happy. But be careful about seeking joy and sweetness outside of yourself. True joy is found within. As such, Bee reminds you to be the one who makes life sweeter—for yourself and for other people. Remember that Bee does not seek honey—like Bear does. Bee makes the honey.
The biggest challenge that comes with spirit animal Bee is holding onto your individuality—not losing yourself in the group. To our human eyes, all bees appear the same—except for the queen, and even she is difficult to spot in a hive. We think of bees as drones or clones, having no individuality at all.
When you start to doubt your uniqueness, remember that bees are specialists who have honed their gifts. You are not supposed to take Bee literally and become a drone. You are supposed to recognize, honor, and master your own unique gifts for your own enjoyment and for the benefit of the community.
